“I’d Love to See Him Fight GunniNelson”- Conor McGregor’s Coach Has a Challenge for Khamzat Chimaev

Who will Khamzat Chimaev fight next? This is the question for passionate debate. With an outstanding 10 win streak, Chimaev is looking for some big names in the welterweight division.

He recently called out Sean Brady, who is also on an undefeated run with 15 wins. Both the fighters boast some top-notch grappling skills.

Additionally, Conor McGregor’s coach John Kavanagh shared his two cents on who Chimaev should fight next. He tweeted, its been very interesting watching the rise of the uber-talented and charismatic @KChimaev.@ufc is coming to London in March. as a fan, I’d love to see him fight @GunniNelson. a short flight to London for both of them….what you guys think? @seanshelby @HalliNelson”

As of now, neither of the fighters has made any comment on this proposal.

Is Khamzat Chimaev vs Gunnar Nelson possible?

Gunnar Nelson hasn’t stepped in the octagon since his defeat to Gilbert Burns at UFC Fight Night: Hermansson vs Cannonier in 2019. That was his second loss in a row after he lost to Leon Edwards earlier that year.

‘Gunni’ has been with the former UFC featherweight and lightweight double-champion Conor McGregor as his training partner. Hence, the 17-5-1 fighter, who also trains out of SBG Ireland, has been in close proximity with Kavanagh, who may have dropped a hint about his return.

Khamzat Chimaev has locked his eyes on the UFC welterweight title. Currently, Kamaru Usman holds the prestigious welterweight championship belt after defending his title for the fifth time.

Although Gunnar might be a good fight for Chimaev, Khamzat’s hype train and winning streak means that Gilbert Burns seems a much more potential opponent. Burns is looking sharp after he defeated Stephen Thompson in his last match at UFC 264. Reportedly, Gilbert Burns vs Khamzat Chimaev is being targeted for January 2022.
