Kansas City Chiefs fans turning a moment of honor into a moment of generosity

A Facebook group named, Chiefs Kingdom Memes originally planned to donate $13 increments in the honor of the 13 seconds that the Chiefs offense took to tie the game, before winning it in the overtime. The idea was to donate to the Patrick Mahomes’ Charitable Organization in increments of $13 donations. And donate $15 increments to the Mahomies Foundation.

An incredible $178,000 from over 9800 donors has been donated in just over 24 hours from #ChiefsKingdom Thank you all! These donations help the ongoing need and ensure our team has the tools, training and programs to care for the kids in WNY pic.twitter.com/wWXvDXxjXF

However, that plan took a sharp turn when the group got the wind of the tradition followed by Bills fans to donate to other teams. The Chiefs then decided to make donations to their opponent’s charity of choice. It was certainly a great gesture performed by the Chiefs to spread love through the medium of football.

The benevolent Bills Mafia

The Bills have been following their big-hearted traditions for long. The Oishei Children’s Hospital received about $1.1 million from the Bills fans in remembrance of Allen’s grandmother, Patricia Allen who died last year. The hospital now has a Patricia Allen Pediatric Recovery Wing along with a Patricia Allen Fund for equipment, training, education, and programs.

With all the donations going around I would like to encourage everyone to Donate $10 to this service in #KansasCity that helps women escape domestic violence https://t.co/UJffZuSl5V#BillsMafia @BuffaloBills @Chiefs pic.twitter.com/XVCQ05JOLR

The Bills also raised a sum of $442,000 for the Andy & Jordan Dalton Foundation after the Bills clinched a playoff berth in 17 years against the Cincinnati Bengals. Furthermore, the Bills donated to the Food Bank of Northwest Louisiana after homeboy Tre’Davious White tore his ACL this season.

Those 13 seconds though have broken the hearts of many Bills fans, but the support that they have received from the Chiefs has written a new chapter in the world of sport that embarks on a new journey. A journey that only spreads love and support.
