Mick Schumacher Affirms Putting His Ferrari F1 Dream on Hold to Revive Struggling Haas

Ferrari are in desperate need of a world championship title amid their never-ending dry spell in Formula One. Kimi Raikkonen briefly halted their poor run in 2007, but that was it! The pressure has since been building up and the fans are slowly, but steadily beginning to lose their patience.

A repeat of the late 90s scenario we’d say. One too many close fights only to lose the championship at the very final race. Hence, Ferrari’s hopes of winning a trophy were on the decline. But, then arrived the savior in the legend, Michael Schumacher who managed to re-ignite Ferrari’s dying fortunes by winning five consecutive titles between 2000 and 2004.

And, here we stand almost experiencing a deja vu-like scenario. Only, in this case, Michael Schumacher’s son, Mick Schumacher is waiting in line for the Ferrari seat. So, how amazing would it be if the Reds could witness Mick Schumacher end the dry spell for them?

Well, the Tifosi are dreaming of it, but, much like any other driver, Mick has a hurdle in his path before he could smash his way into the Ferrari garage.

Mick Schumacher not focusing on Ferrari now

The young German admitted that he needs to prove his racing prowess at what is now a struggling lower mid-field team, Haas. His father managed to do it at Benetton by winning them a couple of world championship titles.

But, although Mick cannot replicate such glories with Haas at the moment, he is keen on pulling off a set of commendable race finishes in 2022 before eyeing for a Ferrari seat. “I think in general it’s a dream for everybody to race for Ferrari. I think anybody would like to race there,” he told Crash.

But obviously my thoughts are very much on the here and now and trying to do my best job in the position that I am in with Haas. For sure hopefully, with a better car, we’ll be able to take the maximum out of it.

Overall, it was certainly an unimpressive start to the F1 career for Mick, with a series of avoidable crashes and other silly errors further degrading it. But, he now has a huge opportunity lying ahead of him. Amid the regulation changes, there are chances that Haas can find themselves battling for the points in 2022. So, how long will it take before Mick clinches his first championship point?
