He is often in the limelight because of his eye-catching comments and he has done so once again. In recent years, fans have been aware of the animosity between Kyrgios and World No. 1 Novak Djokovic. The 26-year-old player left no stone unturned when it came to picking on the 20-time Grand Slam champion.

However, over the past couple of weeks, Kyrgios has been a surprising ally to Djokovic during his prolonged visa saga with the Australian authorities.

Novak Djokovic thanks Nick Kyrgios for his support

The Australian tennis player has repeatedly spoken in support of Djokovic since his trouble with the Australian authorities began. In fact, there were very few top players who voiced their support for the World No. 1 superstar.

Due to the support he received, Djokovic actually messaged Kyrgios and thanked him for being there in trying times.

Talking about their conversation, Kyrgios stated, “Novak has reached out to me personally on IG saying “thank you for standing up for me”. I was not the one he was expecting to go out in the media and have his back.”

Coming to Djokovic, the situation is not yet certain if he will be competing in the Australian Open 2022. However, if things go according to plan, he will be up against compatriot Miomir Kecmanovic in the opening round to begin his title defense in Melbourne.

On the other hand, Kyrgios will be up against British player Liam Broady in the first round.
