Pokémon Brilliant Diamond & Shining Pearl Create Nintendo Switch History in Japan

Pokémon Brilliant Diamond & Shining Pearl is one of the most selling games and fans are excited about it. On 25th Nov 2021, Famitsu announced that Pokémon Brilliant Diamond & Shining Pearl has sold over 1.3 million copies in Japan. In fact, the game achieved these sales figures within just three days of the release from 19th to 21st Nov 2021. And by achieving these figures, this game has for sure created history in Japan. It’s a proud moment for the devs as they have achieved a significant milestone.

This reflects that fans in Japan just can’t stop enjoying this game. And the above figures don’t include sales from the official Nintendo website. These figures only include sales from physical sales and download cards sold across retail stores in Japan. And it’s not just this game, the sales of Nintendo Switch consoles are also booming in Japan. It’s expected that the sales will continue to grow during the Christmas and upcoming festival season.

Pokémon Brilliant Diamond & Shining Pearl and more details about it

However, Pokémon Brilliant Diamond & Shining Pearl holds the record of the second-most selling video game of all time. And Animal Crossing: New Horizons still holds the record of the highest selling game ever. Where Animal Crossing: New Horizons sold over 1.8 million copies within just three days of launch back in March 2020. And it’s been more than a year, but this game still holds the record for the best Nintendo Switch game launch in history.

For the fans who are unfamiliar with this game, here’s what videogameschronicle has to say about it:

“The games are remakes of Pokémon Diamond & Pearl, which were released for Nintendo DS in 2006. The originals sold 1.586 million units in their first four days in Japan, putting them roughly in line with the remakes’ sales figures.”

And just a few days back on 22nd Nov 2021, Pokémon Brilliant Diamond & Shining Pearl achieved a milestone. Where this game topped the UK sales chart, becoming the most selling game in the United Kingdom. And it looks like this game has no intention of stopping dominating the gaming industry. In fact, in the UK, Pokémon Brilliant Diamond alone became the highest selling game. Without even including Pokémon Shining Pearl sales figures.
