The Los Angeles Lakers have certainly established themselves as one of the leading franchises in the NBA. Their various wild successes over the years have gained them fans all over the world. The NBA also markets the franchise and its superstars to a global audience. A recent video shows how a billionaire fan of the franchise has honored his favorite team.

A video posted by ‘bleacherreport’ on Instagram displayed the billionaire’s insane replica of the Lakers’ practice gym inside his house. The Instagram reel video shows the interiors of the gym and what it contains. The lavish gym includes signed jerseys on a wall by some of the biggest legends of the franchise. His expansive home gym also includes many Lakers’ banners on another wall.

The franchise came into existence in 1947 in Minneapolis, Minnesota. The league and its fans previously knew them as the Minneapolis Lakers. They relocated to Los Angeles prior to the 1960–61 season. Crypto.com Arena, previously known as the Staples Center, hosts the home games of the team.

Millionaire owner turns Lakers into a billion-dollar franchise

The late Jerry Buss bought the Los Angeles Lakers for $16 million in 1979. Under Buss’ ownership, the franchise achieved incredible success. They drafted Magic Johnson in the 1979 NBA draft under Buss and then immediately won an NBA title in 1972.

Buss’ purchase of the franchise at the time made it the largest sports team purchase in history. Buss died in 2013, but his family remains close to the organization with Jeanie Buss, his daughter, as the current president. Currently, reports estimate the Lakers to be worth upwards of $1 billion.
