West Ham are progressing in talks to make PSG Goalkeeper Alphonse Areola their second signing of the summer, with the clubs close to agreeing a fee in the region of 12m euros.

The French shot-stopper spent last season on loan with the Hammers, with the 29-year-old used as David Moyes’ cup goalkeeper with Lukas Fabianski remaining the favoured Premier League option.

To that end, he made just a solitary Premier League appearance, but racked up 17 more outings for the Irons across the FA Cup, Carabao Cup and Europa League. With Fabianski now 37 years old, the roles may be reversed this season.

And the Hammers are now finally becoming increasingly confident that a deal can be struck, which will mark their second signing of the summer following the arrival of Nayef Aguerd from fellow Ligue 1 side Stade Rennais.

What next for West Ham?

David Moyes is thought to want six new faces this summer, of which Areola would be the second.

The Hammers have shown an interest in Chelsea striker Armando Broja, and as per reports are ready to bid £30m for the young forward who spent last season on loan with Southampton.

Additionally, they are in the market for a new midfielder, with James Ward-Prowse having been linked with a move but nothing concrete having emerged for the Saints captain.

There are also suggestions that another winger could be on the way this summer, though that depends on the future of Said Benrahma. Meanwhile, should Jesse Lingard become keen on a move to the London Stadium, the feeling would be mutual.
